Our History

Birth of the Vision

Dec. 26, 2011 – Jan. 5, 2012

Sister Anita returned to the Marmont Region of Haiti where she grew up as a young girl. This was her first trip there in many years since she moved to the United States. Her father, Arius Dorelus, was a pastor of a congregation in this region. During this recent trip, she visited six local congregations. She challenged them to work together in unity. They began to meet monthly in a local league that expanded to eleven congregations. She also encouraged them to develop clear vision and mission statements with specific goals to present the Good News in the region. They pleaded for Anita to return back soon with a team for fellowship and ministry.

First Missionary Team Trip to Haiti

Dec. 3 – 13, 2012

Sister Anita led a team to Haiti from Gospel Light Community Church (Pastor Pedro Vazquez, Angel Rivera, Junior Lubin, Kathy Sneed, Mildred Martinez & Carline Alexander) including Bishop Henry Buckwalter from Harvest Fellowship of Churches (HFC). The team conducted evening services that packed in about 500 attendees. The team also visited, on foot, about 10 churches from the surrounding mountain region of Marmont in Haiti.

One of the visits included the Evangelical Christian Assembly Church. A new church building was being constructed to replace the old church building. Gospel Light Comm. Church (GLCC) and HFC raised funds in the states to get this church built.

Second Missionary Team Trip to Haiti

Nov. 28 – Dec. 5, 2014

Sister Anita led a second trip to Haiti. This team consisted of Pastor Pedro, Amy Vazquez, Mildred Martinez, Carline Alexander, Angel Rivera, Mike Cruz and Fred Avila from GLCC also Pastor Dave Hoeflein, an HFC pastor from PA also joined the team. The team stayed at a newly built Mission House that was constructed through funds raised by Sister Anita.

The team witnessed many miracles, signs and wonders through the Spirit of God as they conducted many street outreaches, prison ministry, seeing sick people healed, seeing people delivered from demonic oppression and witchcraft, seeing many come to Christ and a few couples even get married by the team pastors. Also, the new church building for Evangelical Christian Assembly was dedicated.

Third Missionary Team Trip to Haiti

Feb. 17 – 25, 2017

Sister Anita led a third trip to Haiti. This team consisted of Pastor Pedro & wife Amy Vazquez from Gospel Light Community Church, Bishop Henry from HFC, Sister Anita’s brother, Jonas Dorelus from Bridgeport, CT. and Anita’s friend Yolande Myrthil.

There were three big highlights to this trip. First there were marriage ceremonies conducted by the team. On the second day, Pastor Jonel Desilaire and wife Mirlande were married by Bishop Henry. Pastor Pedro and Sister Anita served as best man and maid of honor. Later in the week, another couple was married in their home by Pastor Pedro. Then 28 couples were married at a mass wedding officiated by Bishop Henry.

During one of the street outreaches, a voodoo man, named Mago came to Christ. He left behind his demonic worship and began to worship the Lord.

Finally, the birth of a future ministry school was established when the Mission Team conducted a series of teachings for 40-50 Christian leaders from the Marmont region.

Sister Anita invited her pastor friend Rodrigue Bazile from Hamden, CT to help with translation and also her friend Yolande Myrthil to help coordinate all the hospitality arrangements.

The major highlight of this trip was seeing about 100 regional pastors and leaders come to receive prepared teachings given by the team at the mission house. Also, a young woman came from the streets one evening possessed by demons. After a lengthy prayer by Pastor Rodrigue she was delivered and healed.

Launch of Gospel Light Missions International School of Ministry in Haiti

Sept. 2020

A vision given to Bishop Henry and Sister Anita years earlier to start a school to train pastors and leaders in the Marmont region came to existence. The school used video recordings of teachings conducted by Bishop Henry and others from the ministry team. The teachings were interpreted in Creole and translated into teaching manuals in Haiti. Around 100 students participated once a month in the school that was coordinated by Pastor Ifrand Clerat and his team that came up from Port-au-Prince. The school also expanded to churches in Port-au-Prince and St. Michel. Sister Pauline Jn Louis and her husband Pastor Adson helped with translated materials and ran the school in St. Michel. The school ran for 10 months and just concluded its first year in June 2021.
